The University of Illinois Springfield athletics department finished sixth in this year's GLVC Commissioner's Cup. The sixth-place finish tied for the second-best mark in program history for the Prairie Stars.

The Commissioner's Cup ranks GLVC schools by how they compete in the seven core sports of men's and women's soccer, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, softball, and baseball. A school gets 15 points for winning the conference tournament, and 14 points for being runner-up in the tournament. The points after that are awarded by their tournament seed, or place in the final standings.

UIS finished with 68 points, led by the GLVC Champion baseball team, and the GLVC runner-up men's soccer program. Softball, women's basketball, and volleyball received points for making the GLVC Tournament, and the men's basketball and women's soccer program contributed with their conference finishes.

UIS has finished sixth or better in three out of the four competitions. It was sixth as well during the 2018-19 school year, and its best finish was fifth in 2017-18. The Prairie Stars were 12th in last year's competition, and the six-spot improvement was the most in the GLVC this year.

UIS finished eighth in the GLVC All-Sports Trophy, which tied for the best mark in program history in that competition. The All-Sports Trophy includes all sports in which the GLVC sponsors a championship, including seven that UIS does not sponsor.

Besides the sports mentioned above, UIS received 14 points from men's cross country for its runner-up showing at the conference meet, and women's cross country and women's tennis had nine points for their postseason performance. In all, the Prairie Stars had 116.5 points in those standings, and improved by one spot over last year's finish.

Drury won the 2021-22 Commissioner's Cup with 77 total points, and Indianapolis won the 2021-22 All-Sports Trophy with 218 points.
