The University of Illinois Springfield men's tennis could not capture any of its close matches on Saturday in Lebanon, Ill., which led to a loss in the GLVC opener for the team. The Prairie Stars fell to McKendree by a 7-0 score.
Â
UIS, which was forced to play several players out of position during the day due to missing one of its top players, still nearly stole the doubles point. After losing the No. 3 spot,
Nick Revin and
Oscar Toro won their match at No. 2 to even the score. At the top position, the Prairie Stars went to a tiebreaker, but fell by a 7-4 score.
Â
In singles action, UIS was competitive in all of the matches between No. 1 and No. 5, but it could not get a win. Three of those matches, at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 singles, went to a third set, but the Bearcats pulled out a win in each of them.
Â
UIS falls to 6-6 overall. The Prairie Stars return home next weekend for duals against Lewis and Indianapolis.
