The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team lost its first series of the season after falling on Sunday afternoon to Quincy by a 7-6 score.

UIS fell behind early in the fourth game of the series and could never catch up. The Prairie Stars got within one run twice in the final four innings, but couldn't knot the game up.

Offensively,
Bobby Barnard led the team with three hits.
Brant Vanaman and
Nick Mayerhofer each had two RBI.
Asher Bradd and Vanaman each had a triple, and Mayerhofer hit a home run. On the mound,
Luke Fitton had the best showing, throwing three innings of relief and allowing just one hit.

UIS falls to 18-6 on the season and 1-3 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars are home on Tuesday afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader against Missouri-St. Louis.
