The University of Illinois Springfield softball team went 1-1 on the final day of the Blue Bridge Battle event, and finished the competition with a 4-1 mark. On Sunday, the Prairie Stars defeated Slippery Rock before falling to Northwood.

In the opener, UIS scored 11 times in the first three innings for the victory.
Danielle Dennis hit two doubles and drove in four runs. Carly Chovance had three runs, two RBI, and two hits.
Jillian Mathis and
Kelsie Burrows also had two hits and two runs apiece.
Kayana Diederich had a home run and two RBI.

Courtney Blackwell earned the win after going three innings and allowing three hits and three runs.

In the second game, the Prairie Stars fell 5-1 to Northwood. UIS had just two hits, including two from
Carolyn Franke. Burrows scored the team's run in the fifth, which briefly gave it a 1-0 lead before Northwood scored four times in the sixth.

Payton Long went six innings on the mound and surrendered four hits and four runs.

UIS is now 10-2 on the season. The Prairie Stars have their home opener next Saturday when they host Ohio Dominican as part of day one of the Springfield Invitational.
