The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team could not keep up Missouri Southern's offense on Monday afternoon in Joplin, Mo. The Prairie Stars fell to the Lions by a 10-8 margin.

UIS allowed two big innings to Missouri Southern in the game, which proved to be the difference. The Lions scored five times in the fourth for a 6-3 lead in the game. UIS fought back and had an 8-7 lead after 7 ½ innings of play, but Missouri Southern scored three times in the bottom of the eighth for the win.

Offensively,
Brandon Bannon led UIS with four hits on the day, including a home run. He finished with three runs and two RBI.
Asher Bradd also scored three times, and
Zion Pettigrew and
Kal Youngquist had two RBI apiece. All nine players had at least one hit, including two by Bradd, Pettigrew, Younquist, and
Austin Alderman.
Brayden Gorecki hit a home run, and Pettigrew and
Johnny Colombo had doubles.

UIS falls to 4-3 on the season. The Prairie Stars will have their home opening series this weekend versus Saginaw Valley State.
