The University of Illinois Springfield softball program remained undefeated on the season after a 9-1 victory over Northwest Missouri on Saturday at the Alvy Early Memorial Classic.

UIS took an early lead on a solo homer by
Carolyn Franke in the second inning. The Prairie Stars then broke it open with eight runs in the fourth through six frames.

The Prairie Stars finished the game with 13 hits, including five extra-bases hits. Besides Franke,
Taylor Zawacki also hit a homer, and
Carly Chovanec,
Kayana Diederich, and
Ramsey Armstrong all had doubles.

Chovance had a team-high three hits, and she scored twice. Franke also had two runs in the game.
Danielle Dennis, Zwacki, and Diederich all had two RBI.

On the mound, Ragan Miles threw a complete game and earned the win. She allowed just seven hits and the solo run. She struck out five batters.
