Class of 2020 UIS Athletics Hall of Fame Induction

The induction ceremony for the Prairie Stars Hall of Fame Class of 2020 will take place on December 3rd, 2022 at 11:30 am at the UIS Student Union. The event was originally planned for Fall 2020 and was postponed due to Covid-19. Athletics looks forward to celebrating the inductees in deserving fashion. The newest members of the Prairie Stars Hall of Fame are volleyball player Danielle Crossen, men's soccer player Jakub Piotrowski, men's soccer coach Joe Eck, Friend of Athletics Rich Ringeisen, and the 2012 Softball team. They will be the fourth class inducted since the Hall of Fame's creation in 2014. Anyone who would like to attend can register here.

The cost to attend the induction ceremony is $30, and all guests must register online prior to Nov. 26. The event will begin with lunch and a welcome by UIS Athletics. Upon the closing of the induction ceremony, guests can attend the UIS Basketball doubleheader next door at TRAC. Inductees will be recognized at half time of the UIS Men's Basketball game versus Truman State (3 PM tip off). 

Danielle Crossen, Volleyball
Crossen was a three-year letterwinner for the UIS volleyball team from 2004-06. She was a two-time first-team all-conference selection, and once was named to the NAIA All-Region team. She helped the Prairie Stars have a winning record in the American Midwest Conference in each of her seasons, and was a leader of the 2006 team which had the first 20-win season in program history.

Jakub Piotrowski, Men's Soccer
Piotrowski was a two-year letterwinner for the UIS men's soccer team from 2007-08. He was a two-time first-team all-conference selection, was honorable mention All-American in 2007, and first-team All-American in 2008. He was the AMC Newcomer of the Year in 2007, and the AMC Player of the Year in 2008.

Joe Eck, Men's Soccer Head Coach
Eck was a member of the coaching staff on the UIS men's soccer for 31 years from 1979-2009. He was an assistant coach for Aydin Gonulsen for 23 years, and was the head coach from 2002-2009. Eck helped the Prairie Stars win 457 contests and have a .700 winning percentage over his 31 seasons.

Dr. Rich Ringeisen, Friend of Athletics
Ringeisen was the Chancellor of UIS from 2001-2010. Among his many accomplishments at UIS was providing the leadership that led to the athletics program moving from NAIA to the NCAA Division II level in the 2009-10 school. He also helped the Prairie Stars become a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, one of the top NCAA Division II leagues.

2012 Softball Team
The 2012 UIS softball team made athletics history when it became the first Prairie Stars squad to make a NCAA Division II postseason field. UIS finished the year with a 36-22 overall record, and went 22-12 in conference play. It won the GLVC West Division Regular Season title, and reached the championship games of the GLVC Postseason Tournament and the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament.
