The University of Illinois Springfield tennis teams opened up their fall seasons this weekend with the annual UIS Invitational.

On the men's side, UIS swept all four tournament titles. In the men's "A" singles draw,
Rafa Rojas and
Menno Servaes were co-winners after both teammates advanced to the finals.
Matthew Lapsley won the "B" singles tournament. He lost the first set 6-0, but bounced back to win the second set 6-3 and then took the tiebreaker by a 10-5 margin.

In doubles, the duo of
Tomas Martinez and
Menno Servaes won the "A" draw, including an 8-1 win in the championship match. In the doubles "B" draw, the duos of
Zubin Omar and Rojas, and
Philip Rydell and
Ivan Esguerra reached the finals, and were declared co-champions.

On the women's side,
Kamila Kalinowska had the top singles run, as she advanced to the "B" championship match.
Piper Schrepferman advanced to the second round in the women's "A" flight, and the doubles team of
Sina Skjelstad and
Neha Mokhasi advanced to the second round of the "A" doubles draw.

Both teams are next in action at the ITA Regional Tournaments. The women's is Sept. 18-19 in Indianapolis, Ind., and the men's is Sept. 24-26 in Allendale, Mich.
