The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team fell twice on Saturday on day two of the Capital Classic. The Prairie Stars lost to Grand Valley State and Michigan Tech, both teams receiving votes in the national poll.

In the Grand Valley State contest, the scores were 25-24, 25-20, and 25-13. The Lakers had 18 more kills and 14 more digs against the Prairie Stars.

Brianna Bush, who was named to the All-Tournament team at the conclusion of the Capital Classic, had nine kills and a .350 hitting percentage. She also led the team with two blocks and 10 points.
Becca Blakeley had 15 assists.
Angela Denney and
Amanda McConnell had 13 and 12 digs, respectively.

UIS fell to Michigan Tech by scores of 25-21, 25-20, and 25-13. Michigan Tech's offense was clicking as it .295 in the match, and finished with 53 kills overall. UIS had 10 blocks overall in the match.

Denney led the squad with 10 kills and 17 digs, and Bush had six hits and a .263 hitting percentage. Blakeley had a team-high 22 assists, and McConnell had double-figure digs. Bush and
Emily Cole tied for the team-high with six blocks.

UIS will start GLVC play this week with a 2-6 overall record. Five of the six losses though have been to nationally-ranked teams, or teams receiving votes in the national poll. The Prairie Stars host Missouri-St. Louis on Thursday at 7 p.m.
