The University of Illinois Springfield men's tennis team hits the road this week for a pair of GLVC contests. The Prairie Stars travel to nationally-ranked Indianapolis on Friday, followed by a Saturday dual at Lewis.

UIS is off to its best start in its program's NCAA history at 7-1. Included in that was a 6-1 victory in its GLVC opener last week against McKendree.

The Prairie Stars enter play this week with a 39-8 record in single dual matches this year, and a 19-5 mark in doubles dual contests.

Rafa Rojas and
Menno Servaes each lead the team with 10 singles victories. Servaes is the team leader with 10 doubles wins on the year.

Indianapolis enters the UIS match with an 8-2 overall record, and it is 1-0 in GLVC play. The Greyhounds defeated Lewis by a 6-1 margin in that conference match.

Tom Zeuch is 9-0 on the year in singles play, including 6-0 at the No. 2 position. Zeuch also has seven doubles victories on the season.

In 2019, UIS fell to Indianapolis by a 7-0 score in a dual match in Springfield, Ill.

Lewis enters play this week with a 5-5 overall record. It had a three-match winning streak snapped last week with its 6-1 loss to Indianapolis in its GLVC opener.

The Flyers' leader in singles play is David Ambrozic, who is 9-1 on the season at the No. 3 position. Ambrozic is also 9-1 at No. 1 doubles along with Juan Ramirez Mejia.

In their last meeting in 2019, Lewis defeated UIS by a 6-1 score in a match played at Lewis.
