The University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis team fell in the opening round of the GLVC Tournament on Friday morning in Romeoville, Ill. The Prairie Stars dropped a 4-0 decision to Missouri-St. Louis.
Â
UIS could not overcome its early hole from having just four players. Missouri-St. Louis won the doubles point after becoming the first team to defeat UIS's
Carol Quevedo and
Franca Bucco this season. With default wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, the Tritons needed to win just one more singles match, and they got that win at No. 3 singles against
Neha Mokhasi.
Â
Sina Skjelstad was in a third set in her match, and was up 2-0 in the final set when it called due to the match being decided. Quevedo and Bucco were both down one set in their matches, and were in close battles in their third sets.
Â
UIS ends its season with a 10-4 record, one of its best marks during its NCAA era.
