Men's Tennis Searches For GLVC Tournament Spot During St. Louis Road Trip

The University of Illinois Springfield men's tennis team ends its regular season on the road this week. The Prairie Stars will be facing Lindenwood on Friday, followed by a Saturday dual at Maryville.
 
UIS picked up a big GLVC victory last week with a 5-2 decision over Southern Indiana. A pair of wins this week will clinch a spot for the Prairie Stars in the GLVC Tournament. UIS is 8-3 on the year, and is under consideration for a NCAA Tournament bid.
 
The Prairie Stars celebrated Senior Day last Saturday at home against Southern Indiana. The team's lone senior, Alex Chan, picked up a doubles victory in that dual with a 7-2 win in the tiebreaker. Chan is currently 77-44 in his UIS career, including 35 singles wins and 42 doubles victories. He is fifth in program history in singles wins, and tied for fourth in doubles victories.
 
Also against Southwest Baptist, Tomas Martinez, Menno Servaes, and Nick Revin all went 2-0. Rafa Rojas and Servaes both enter the final week of the regular season with a team-high 11 wins. Servaes also has a team-high in doubles victories with 11.

UIS vs. Lindenwood

All-Time Series (NCAA era): Lindenwood leads 6-2
 
The Lions enter play this week with a 4-6 overall record, and they are 0-4 in GLVC play. Lindenwood has lost six straight matches, including setbacks against Lewis and Indianapolis last week.
 
Lindenwood is under .500 except for the lowest spots in singles and doubles. It is 4-4 at No. 5 singles and 5-3 at the No. 6 spot. The Lions are 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.
 
Individually, Rodrigo Rattes leads the team with five singles victories, one more than Juan Pablo Herrera. Logan Orr and Rattes both have a team-high four doubles wins.
 
UIS has won two straight against Lindenwood. During the 2018-19 season, the Prairie Stars knocked off Lindenwood by a 5-2 margin.

Maryville is currently 4-6 on the year, and 1-3 in conference action. The Saints have lost three straight, including setbacks against Indianapolis and Lewis last week.
 
Maryville's strongest position on the year has been No. 2 doubles, where it is 7-3 on the season. In doubles, the No. 3 teams have compiled a 7-3 mark as well.
 
Jack Beuttell-Triggs leads the team with a 6-2 singles record this year. In doubles, Bodin Aleksic and Tom Schmitt are both 6-4.
 
UIS has won all five meetings against Maryville in its NCAA era. That includes a 6-1 victory in the last showdown in 2018-19.
