The University of Illinois Springfield softball team earned a pair of wins on Friday at the Emporia State 5-State Classic. The Prairie Stars defeated Minnesota State Moorhead and Wayne State (Neb.).
UIS trailed Minnesota State Moorhead 5-2 after four innings, but its offense exploded for 14 runs in its last three at-bats for a 16-5 victory.
Reagan Miles had the big hit with a three-run homer in the sixth that broke a 5-5 tie. She also earned the win in relief, pitching the final three innings and allowing no hits and a walk. At the plate, Miles was four-of-five with four RBI and three runs.

Carolyn Franke also had four hits and she drove in three.
Evey Evans scored three times, and
Zoie Bowman and
Kayana Diederich had two runs apiece.
Calla Wickenhauser and
Ashley Klinzing each had two RBI.

The Prairie Stars scored six times in the first four innings of game two against Wayne State, and held on for a 6-5 win.

Kelsie Burrows had a team-high three hits. Klinzing scored two times and
Danielle Dennis had two RBI.
Addison Bryant earned the win on the mound, allowing one run in five innings. Miles captured the final out for the save.

UIS will face MSU Moorhead and Minnesota State tomorrow in Emporia, Kan.
