The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer program dropped an overtime contest on Sunday in Quincy, Ill. The Prairie Stars lost to Quincy by a 2-1 margin.
 
UIS struck first in the contest in the 17^th minute when Carlos Giron scored off an assist from Quentin Reese. Despite the Prairie Stars lead, Quincy took over the game in the second half. The Hawks outshot UIS by a 12-1 margin in that period, including a 7-0 mark in shots on goal. That effort paid off for Quincy when it tied the game in the 71^st minute.
 
In overtime, UIS had a shot on goal just over two minutes in that was saved by the Quincy goalie. The Hawks were quickly able to flip the field and drew a foul just outside the penalty box. It then put in the game-winning goal in the bottom right corner of the goal off the free kick.
 
Lars Brinkman had a team-high three shots and three shots on goal for UIS. Pijus Petkevicius made six saves in goal.
 
UIS falls to 2-2-3 on the season. The Prairie Stars take on Truman State next Friday.
