Volleyball Travels To Tenth-Ranked UMSL For Weekend's GLVC Pod Event

The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team plays its final GLVC pod weekend this Saturday at Missouri-St. Louis. The Prairie Stars take on the host school at 10 a.m., and then face William Jewell at 1 p.m.
 
UIS is currently 3-10 on the season and 3-9 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars are 2-6 during the first four weeks of the conference's pod action. Last week at TRAC, UIS fell to Rockhurst, before bouncing back with a 3-0 sweep over Maryville.
 
UIS is hitting .182 on the season, which ranks 10th in the GLVC. It is 14th with a .235 opponent hitting percentage. Its highest ranking among league statistics is seventh in blocking with 1.95 a set.
 
Amanda McConnell is currently ninth in the league with over four digs a set. Other team leaders are Kenzie Hendon with 2.21 kills a set, Regan Trueblood with a 4.89 assist average and 11 service aces, and Brianna Bush with 0.87 blocks a set.

Missouri-St. Louis enters play this week among GLVC leaders with an 8-2 overall rank. The program is ranked 10th in NCAA Division II.
 
The Tritons are one of the top defensive leagues in the conference. They are second with a .129 opponent hitting percentage, and lead the conference with 20.62 digs a set.
 
Charlotte Richards is the GLVC leader with 4.09 kills and 4.59 points a set, Kaileen Herman is first in the conference with 11.03 assists per set, and Megan Woll is the league leader with 6.34 digs a set.
 
Over the last four meetings, both teams have two wins, and three of the four matches have gone five sets. That includes last year's contest in which Missouri-St. Louis won 15-13 in the fifth set.

William Jewell is still looking for its first win of the season. It is 0-13 on the year, including 0-12 in GLVC play.
 
The Cardinals rank 11th in the league with a .211 opponent hitting percentage, and are last with a .128 hitting percentage. William Jewell is one of the top serving teams in the league, averaging 1.33 aces per set.
 
Individually among the GLVC leaders, Haidan Baade is seventh with 4.71 digs a set, and Hannah Cope is ninth with 6.50 assists a game.
 
UIS has won six of the last seven meetings between the two schools. Last season in Springfield, Ill., the Prairie Stars won by a 3-0 sweep.
