Volleyball Hosts Its Second GLVC Triangular This Saturday

The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team hosts its second GLVC Triangular of the year on Saturday at TRAC. The Prairie Stars will take on Rockhurst in the morning, before turning around to face Maryville in the evening session.
 
UIS is currently 2-9 on the season and 2-8 in GLVC action. The Prairie Stars are looking to snap a four-match losing streak. Last week at the Drury Triangular, UIS dropped 3-0 decisions to Drury and Lindenwood. The program also lost a non-conference match to Truman State on Tuesday.
 
Hannah Nicolaisen had a season-high 16 kills in that Truman State match. She has double-figure kills total in three matches this year, including two out of the last five. She is second on the team with just over two kills per game.
 
Defensively, Amanda McConnell ranks in the top-10 in the GLVC with over four digs a set. At the net, Brianna Bush is just under one block a set.

Rockhurst enters play this week with a 5-6 overall record, including a 3-6 GLVC mark. The team is third in the GLVC West Division.
 
The Hawks currently rank fifth in the GLVC with 2.01 blocks a set. They are tenth in the league by holding opponents to a .195 hitting percentage.
 
Two Rockhurst players are among the league's defensive leaders. Morgan Conner is third with 1.26 blocks a set, and Jadyn Makovicka is ninth with 4.18 digs a set.
 
Last season, Rockhurst earned a 3-0 sweep over Illinois Springfield at TRAC.

Maryville is 1-9 on the season, with each game being GLVC contests. The Saints are fifth in the GLVC Central Division.
 
Maryville is hitting .133 on the season, and allowing opponents to hit .221. It is ninth in the league with 1.11 service aces per game.
 
Abbie Schnell is seventh in the GLVC in assists this year. She is averaging 8.19 a game. Hannah Scrum leads the team with 101 kills. A.J. Hallemann paces the squad with 139 digs in 2021.
 
UIS has won six straight over Maryville, including a 3-1 victory last year in St. Louis.
