Women's Basketball Slows #3 Drury Down For Three Quarters Before Panthers Pull Away Late

The University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team held one of the nation's top offenses in check for three quarters. The third-ranked Drury Panthers were able to break the game open late though as the Prairie Stars fell to the Panthers by a 75-57 score.
 
Drury came into the game averaging over 87 points a contest, but UIS held it to just 52 through 30 minutes of play. The Prairie Stars led 20-16 after one quarter, and the game was tied midway through the third quarter at 39. Drury went on an 11-0 run at that point, and kept that 11-point lead for the rest of the quarter. In the fourth, UIS cut the lead to nine early in the period, but Drury went on a 13-2 run to pull away for good.
 
UIS finished the game shooting 37.3 percent from the field and made four-of-13 three-pointers. Drury shot 47.5 percent, and was seven-of-18 from long distance. The Panthers forced nine more turnovers, and had a 22-10 advantage in points off turnovers.
 
The duo of Lauren Ladowski and Malea Jackson led the Prairie Stars after combining for 28 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists. Ladowski scored 17 and had three assists, while Jackson had 11 points, including three three-pointers. Both players had a team-high six rebounds. Liz Uhl and Olivia Travis finished with seven points apiece, and Grace Weber had six points and a team-high two blocks.
 
UIS falls to 10-10 on the season. The Prairie Stars end the regular season on Saturday at home with a 1 p.m. game against Missouri S&T.
