The University of Illinois Springfield Athletics Department announced today its 2021 Outdoor Spectator Policy. In accordance with UIS and GLVC COVID regulations, the Prairie Stars will allow limited spectators for the outdoor sports of soccer, baseball, and softball.
Â
Each student-athlete and coach in those sports will be allowed two guests for each home event. An additional 50 spots will be available per game for UIS students, faculty, and staff (only available for UIS community members that are regularly on campus and tested weekly). Spectators must reserve a spot 48 hours in advance. Student-athletes will submit the names of their guests, and other members of the UIS community can reserve a spot through UIS Connection. Fans from the Springfield community and fans of the visiting teams are not allowed at this time.
Â
Spectators will be required to follow all of the UIS Athletics protocols. Those include wearing face coverings at all times, taking a COVID screening before being allowed in, and staying in their assigned space. There will be no bleacher seating, and guests are asked to bring lawn chairs to sit on. Concessions will not be available, but guests are permitted to bring their own food and drinks. Failure to follow COVID policies will result in the spectator being removed from the facility, and multiple infractions could lead to the guest not being permitted to another contest.
Â
At this time, due to GLVC regulations, fans are still not permitted at indoor sporting events.
