The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team made program history on Sunday at Kiwanis Stadium when it advanced to the GLVC Tournament Semifinals for the first time in program history. The Prairie Stars advanced with a 2-0 win over Missouri-St. Louis.

UIS outshot Missouri-St. Louis 6-2 in the first half, including 2-0 in shots on goal. The Prairie Stars could not convert though and the two teams were scoreless at halftime.

Early in the second half, the Prairie Stars cracked the scoreboard.

Rory Carlson near the endline, and Carlson quickly found
Lars Brinkman open in front of the goal with a wide open net. Brinkman scored to put UIS up in the 54th minute.

Missouri-St. Louis increased its pressure as the game went on, but UIS's defense held strong. The Prairie Stars sealed the win in the 88th minute when Brinkman scored again after getting a rebound off a shot by
Anton Aduwa-Emovon.

UIS finished the game with a 13-8 shot advantage, including 7-2 in shots on goal.
Anree Bogart earned the win in goal, making two saves in his first collegiate start. UIS received 90 minutes of play from
Morgan Ratcliffe,
Drew Keller,
Armando Rosiles, and
Marvin Zott.

UIS improves to 12-4-1 on the season. The semifinal matchup and location will be decided later on Sunday.
