The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team secured a spot in the GLVC Tournament on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 sweep over McKendree. The Prairie Stars won by scores of 25-16, 25-17, and 25-16.
 
UIS hit .254 for the match and held the Bearcats to under .100. The Prairie Stars had 11 more kills, 13 more digs, and six extra blocks.
 
Angela Denney led the Prairie Stars with 15 kills, and she also had eight digs and five blocks. Becca Blakeley was second in kills with seven in just eight attempts. She also had a team-high 25 assists. Brianna Bush, Megan Krasowski, and Zanea Spencer all had six kills.
 
Defensively, Amanda McConnell had 20 digs, one more than Krasowski. Emma Konie finished with 11 digs. Spencer led the team with six blocks.
 
UIS ends the regular season with a 14-15 overall record, and a 10-8 GLVC mark. Under first-year head coach Kamille Jones, the Prairie Stars improved by seven victories in conference action, and will return to the GLVC Tournament for the fourth time over the last five years.
