Schedule Announced For This Weekend's Midwest Regional Volleyball Crossover

The schedule for the 2021 Midwest Regional Volleyball Crossover has been released. The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team will play three matches this weekend against Cedarville, Kentucky Wesleyan, and Purdue Northwest.
 
The crossover is the annual event featuring every team in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC), and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). This year's event will be held at the Hammond Sportsplex in Hammond, Ind.
 
UIS will have one match on Friday at 2:30 p.m. against Cedarville out of the GMAC conference. Cedarville is 4-9 on the season, including a 3-6 conference mark. It is led by a defense that is blocking 2.2 shots a set. Liene Miller leads the team with over four points a set, including 3.88 kills.
 
UIS and Cedarville have met twice before, with each team winning once. The last meeting occurred in 2018, with UIS sweeping the match in Springfield, Ill.
 
The Prairie Stars open play on Saturday with a 9:30 a.m. match against Kentucky Wesleyan. The Panthers are 2-15 overall, and 0-9 in the GMAC. Kentucky Wesleyan is led by the quartet of Ava Rebarchik, Lilly Trump, Diana Wesolosky, and Nicole Martin, all who have over 100 kills this season.
 
UIS and Kentucky Wesleyan have not met since 2014. UIS has a 3-2 all-time series lead, including a 3-0 home sweep in the most recent meeting.
 
UIS will end play at the crossover on Saturday at 4 p.m. against Purdue Northwest. The GLIAC program is 1-14 overall and 0-7 in conference play. Riley Kraiza is the team's offensive leader with 116 kills, and Sammie Abruzzo paces the team defensively with 124 digs.
 
UIS and Purdue Northwest have met once, with UIS winning 3-0 in 2019 in Hammond, Ind.
 
UIS will enter the crossover with a 6-11 overall record, and a 4-5 GLVC mark.
