The University of Illinois Springfield cross country teams both won the GLVC Triangular at the UIS Cross Country Course on Friday afternoon. The Prairie Stars men's and women's teams both collected the minimum 15 points in the races against McKendree and Quincy.

The women started the meet with a 4,000m race, the first official sporting event on campus since March. UIS runners collected 11 out of the top 13 places, including each of the top-eight.

Taryn Christy and
Gloria Esarco were in the top finishing group, with both crossing the finish line with a time of 14:39.
Savannah Brannan and
Sydney Huffman were in the next group with a time of 15:23.

Morgan Suttles finished fifth overall and on the team with a mark of 15:32. The trio of
Alexa Thomsen,
Jade Anderson, and
Lexi Throne next crossed the finish line with a time of 16:00.

Other runners for UIS included
Breanna Chandler in tenth,
Jordan Serrahn in 12th,
Libby Price in 13th,
Sarahi Porcayo in 16th, and
Claire Eaton in 17th.

In the men's 6,000m race, the Prairie Stars again showed off their depth, with 14 of the top-15 finishers. The quartet of
Tyler Pasley,
Blake Jones,
Wyatt McIntyre, and Cortland Ross all finished at the same time with a winning mark of 18:55.

Following the lead pack were
Layne Hill,
Cayden Kirkham, and
Ryan Jones who had times around 19:44. Rounding out the top-10 were the trio of
Spencer Mauch,
Trevor Dunkel, and
Thomas Wuchte who completed the course in 20:22.

The remaining UIS men runners were
Zach Panek in 11th, William Formea in 13th, Riley McKneelan in 14th, and
Alex Garcia in 15th.

UIS will be in action again Saturday, Oct. 10, when it hosts the GLVC East Divisional race at the UIS Cross Country Course.
