Box Score 2 The University of Illinois Springfield tennis program competed at the ITA Regional Tournament in Indianapolis, Ind. over the weekend. The Prairie Stars had their best showing at the annual competition between NCAA Division II regional programs.

The men's doubles team of
Tomas Martinez and
Menno Servaes advanced to the finals in their competition. The duo won their first three matches to reach the championships, including an 8-6 victory over a doubles team from powerhouse Indianapolis in the semifinals. The run ended with a setback to another Indianapolis squad in the finals.

In the men's singles bracket, Servaes also made a long run and reached the semifinals. He did not drop a set in his first three matches, knocking off players from Findlay, Hillsdale, and Indianapolis. In the semifinals, he fell in a close two-set match.

Rafa Rojas won his first two matches to reach the round of 16 in men's singles, and Martinez won his opening round match before falling in a tiebreaker in the second round.

On the women's side,
Nethra Thenappan won the round-round singles "B" tournament. She dropped just six games in her two victories. In the singles "A" bracket,
Franca Bucco and
Neha Mokhasi were both victorious in their first-round matches.
