UIS Athletics Will Hold Food/School Supplies Drive During Thursday's Basketball Games

The University of Illinois Springfield athletics department will be holding a UIS Cares School Supplies/Food Pantry drive this Thursday during the basketball doubleheaders against Bellarmine.
 
The UIS Cares food pantry is dedicated to making sure that every student has what they need to be successful at UIS. UIS Cares bridges this gap, and provide students with the fuel needed for their academic success. The School Supply Stop opened this fall, and has already distributed over 580 items to over 218 UIS students.
 
The basketball doubleheader on Thursday begins at 5:30 p.m. The men's game against the nationally-ranked Knights will start 30 minutes after the women's contest.

Some of the items needed for the UIS Cares Food Pantry are:
Dry Pasta (especially spaghetti)
Marinara + Alfredo
Mac and Cheese (especially the microwavable cups)
Fruit cups
Seasonings
Breakfast cereal
Granola bars
Noodle bowls
Rice
Liquid Laundry detergent
Toilet paper
Deodorant
Can openers
Toothbrushes + Toothpaste​

Some of the suggested items for the Schools Supplies Shop are:
White out- Preferred tape instead of liquid
Highlighters- all colors
2 pocket folders – blue if possible
Index cards- colored, white, college or wide ruled
Sharpies
Pencils (traditional or mechanical)
Notebooks (college or wide rule)
Post-it notes
Glue sticks
