The University of Illinois Springfield men's tennis team warmed up for the 2020 portion of its schedule on Friday with an exhibition game at Illinois State. The Prairie Stars were competitive in most of the singles matches, but the NCAA Division I Redbirds won by a 6-1 score.

Illinois State swept the doubles matches, with the closest being
Matthew Lapsley and
Rafa Rojas falling 6-3 at the No. 3 position.

The highlight for UIS in singles play came at the No. 1 spot.
Menno Servaes dropped the first set, but bounced back to win the second set and then the tiebreaker.
Alex Chan,
Oscar Toro, and Rojas were also competitive in their respective singles matches, with each player being within 7-5 or 7-6 in one of the sets.

UIS, which is 3-0 on the year after its fall schedule, will start its spring slate on Feb. 14 at Davenport.
