The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team will host the Fourth Annual Capital Classic this Friday and Saturday at TRAC. The event is presented by Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Express.
 
This year's field will include the Prairie Stars, Southern Indiana, Winona State, and Charleston. UIS is coming off its best season in program history when it 25-8 a year ago. Fellow GLVC member Southern Indiana had a 10-19 record last season. Winona State, out of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, finished last season with a 13-15 mark. Charleston, a member of the Mountain East Conference, went 18-17 last year and reached its conference tournament title game.
 
The tournament will feature seven matches, with each team playing a round robin, followed by UIS and Winona State playing a second time on Saturday. The complete schedule of matches can be found here.
 
Ticket prices for the event are $5 per session, or $10 per day. Fans who are attending from out of town are encouraged to stay at the Crowne Plaza, where they will receive an $84 price per night (while available) if you mention the UIS fan rate.
 
For the early match on Saturday, part of the UIS campus will be closed due to a 5k Prairie Star race. Anyone arriving before 10 a.m. needs to enter the TRAC parking lot via University Drive and 11th street. For fans and teams arriving from Holiday Inn Express/Crown Plaza, they will need to take the interstate to Toronto Road, or if taking West Lake Shore drive, turn right onto E Hazel Dell to 11th street.
