The University of Illinois Springfield softball team was swept on Saturday in Kirksville, Mo. The Prairie Stars fell to Truman State by scores of 12-1 and 8-0.

In the first game, Truman scored four times in the first inning to have a comfortable lead for most of the game. UIS trailed 5-0 in the sixth when it loaded the bases with one out. The Prairie Stars were able to score just one run though after
Natalie Cokel drew a two-out walk that scored
Grace Harris. A groundout ended the threat though, and Truman scored seven times in the sixth to end the game by the run rule.

In the second game, UIS was no-hit in a game that lasted just five innings. The Prairie Stars had two players reach in the third inning on a walk and hit by pitch, but couldn't advance any player to third. The only other runner came in the fifth on another hit by pitch.

Truman scored all eight times in the first three innings, with the big inning coming in the second when it crossed the plate five times for an early 7-0 advantage.

Madi Torry had two hits on the day to lead the Prairie Stars.

UIS falls to 20-18 on the season and 9-7 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars will be in action again on Monday at Quincy.
