The No. 12 University of Illinois Springfield softball team won a pair of games on Saturday at the Charger Chillout in Huntsville, Ala. The Prairie Stars won both game in their final at-bat.

In the day's opener against Union (Tenn.), the two teams were tied at four in the bottom of the sixth. UIS got a one-out double by
Carolyn Franke, and her pinch runner scored a batter later on a triple by
Natalie Cokel.

Franke finished with two RBI and had two of the team's five hits.
Addison Bryant earned her first win as a Prairie Stars as she threw the final five innings, and allowed just three hits and one run.

In the day's second game, UIS defeated Kentucky Wesleyan by a 2-1 margin. UIS held a 1-0 lead for most of the game until Kentucky Wesleyan tied it in the top of the sixth.

In the bottom half of that inning,
Ali Bortmess was hit by a pitch to start the inning.
Bree Derhake pinch ran and advanced to third on a single and a fielder's choice.
Calla Wickenhauser then drove in the game-winning run with a ground out to second base.

Jaycee Craver allowed just one run and six hits in seven innings.
Lakyn Wagoner had a pair of hits for UIS. Franke drove in the first run of the game and finished the day with three RBI.

UIS is now 2-2 on the young season. It will be in action again Sunday morning versus Mississippi College.
