The University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team started out slow against Southern Indiana and couldn't come back in a 72-44 loss to the Screaming Eagles.

UIS was competitive in the second half, being outscored by just a 35-30 margin. A poor shooting night, especially in the first 20 minutes, caused a 37-14 hole that the team couldn't escape from.

Lauren Ladowski led the Prairie Stars with 15 points. She was a perfect seven-of-seven from the field, leading the UIS to a 14-of-17 mark from the free-throw line.
Jasmine Sangster added nine points and
Katelyn Rosner had eight. Rosner and
Brianna Mefford each had four rebounds.
Tehya Fortune had team-highs with five steals and three assists.

UIS falls to 7-18 overall and 4-13 in conference play. The Prairie Stars end their season on Saturday afternoon with a 1 p.m. game against Bellarmine.
