The No. 12 University of Illinois Springfield softball team fell to a pair of GLIAC programs on Saturday during day two of the Dome Invitational in Rosemont, Ill. The Prairie Stars lost 3-1 to Wayne State, before falling to No. 16 Grand Valley State by a 17-0 margin.

In the Wayne State game, starting pitcher
Jaycee Craver allowed just one earned run, but two unearned runs in the third gave the Warriors an early 3-0 lead. UIS got one run back in the fourth when
Bree Derhake had a two-out single that scored
Natalie Cokel. The Prairie Stars couldn't get any more tallies though in the final three innings.

Madi Torry led the team with two hits. Craver threw a complete game, allowing nine hits and one walk, while striking out four batters.

In the second game, Grand Valley State collected 12 hits and 15 runs over the first two innings in a five-inning game.
Hunter Niebrugge and
Ali Bortmess both had hits for the Prairie Stars.

UIS is now 6-6 on the season. The Prairie Stars end play at the Dome Invitational on Sunday with a morning contest against Parkside.
