The University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team has its final game before its winter break on Wednesday, when it hosts Missouri Western at 5 p.m. at TRAC.
UIS is coming into the game on a high note after defeating Harris-Stowe on Saturday by a 75-51 score. With a win on Wednesday, the Prairie Stars will match their best non-conference record in their NCAA era.
Like UIS, Missouri Western is under a new head coach this season. The Griffons are off to a 7-2 start after defeating Peru State on Monday by a 91-50 margin.
UIS enters play this week ranked 38th nationally in three-point field-goal percentage defense, a stat that could be tested as the Griffons are 50th in three-point shooting percentage.
