Volleyball Falls To Nationally-Ranked Rockhurst On Senior Day, But Still Clinches Spot In GLVC Tournament

The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team fell on Senior Day on Saturday at TRAC, but still got good news on the afternoon. Despite losing to No. 20 Rockhurst by a 3-0 score, the Prairie Stars still clinched a spot in the GLVC Tournament for the third straight season.

UIS fell to the GLVC regular season champion, Rockhurst, by scores of 25-18, 25-21, and 25-14. The Hawks' defense had 13 blocks and 53 digs in the match, which caused UIS to hit just .046 on the afternoon. Rockhurst finished with 23 more kills overall.

Megan Krasowski led the way for UIS with nine kills and a .296 hitting percentage. Becca Blakeley finished with 20 assists. Defensively, Jailyn Borum had 12 digs and Kenzie Hendon had 11. Brianna Bush had a hand in seven of the team's 13 blocks.

The match was the final contest at TRAC for Borum, Rachel Cobert, and Alli Splitt. The trio has helped UIS win 77 games over their four years as starters, the most wins in a four-year stretch in program history. The three players are also played big roles in last year's GLVC Championship and berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament.

UIS ends the regular season with a 19-12 overall record, and it tied for seventh in the GLVC with an 8-7 mark. The complete bracket for next week's GLVC Championship Tournament, which will be held in East Peoria, Ill., will be announced later today.
