Women's Basketball Falls In Second NCAA Division I Exhibition Game

The University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team fell to Western Illinois on Tuesday night in Macomb, Ill. by a 91-51 score. The game counted as the second exhibition game of the year for the Prairie Stars.
 
Western Illinois came out hot from three-point range, making nine-of-12 in the first quarter. That helped the Leathernecks jump out to a 33-11 lead. Western Illinois finished the game with 16 three-pointers, and shot nearly 60 percent from beyond the arc. UIS managed just two three-pointer in the game. UIS finished with 33.9 percent shooting from the field, while Western Illinois made 54.4 percent of its field-goal attempts.
 
Lauren Ladowski led UIS with 12 points, making three-of-four from the field and six-of-eight from the free-throw line. Katelyn Rosner had eight points. Makenna Fee led the way in the rebounding category with six. Lanie Hicks had two assists, and Tehya Fortune and Malea Jackson both had three steals.
 
UIS, which is 2-0 on the year, will return home on Saturday evening for a 7:30 p.m. game against Missouri Southern.
