The University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team celebrate Senior Night with its two goals both coming from its Senior Class. Those scores led the Prairie Stars to a 2-1 win over Southwest Baptist.
Â
UIS controlled play for much of the first half, and had several chances early in the game, but couldn't convert. The score remained tied at 0-0 until the final minute of the half. The Prairie Stars gained a corner kick with 30 seconds left. The initial kick was knocked out of the box, but
Ally Fischer put it back in. Her pass found
Maggie Juhlin for a goal with 11 seconds remaining.
Â
In the second half, Southwest Baptist tied the score up in the 71st minute with a long shot that found the upper portion of the goal. Less than six minutes later though, Juhlin caused a turnover in the Bearcats' end of the field, and she passed it to
Erin Bolskar. Bolskar was able to finish in the right side of the net for what proved to be the game-winner.
Â
Both teams finished with three shots on goal, and UIS had a 10-6 edge in total shots.
Hailey Collins earned the win in goal, making two saves. Bolskar finished with a team-high three total shots.
Â
UIS improves to 8-9-0 on the season, and 7-7-0 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars end the regular season on Sunday against Drury. A victory will put UIS into the GLVC Tournament for the second time in the last three years.
