The University of Illinois Springfield cross country program continued its upward trend at the GLVC Championships, held Saturday in Evansville, Ind. A record six Prairie Stars earned all-conference honors, the UIS men's team had a program-best runner-up finish, and the women's squad came in a program-best sixth overall.

In the men's competition, UIS finished second with 53 points, just six shy of Southern Indiana which won its 15th straight conference title. The Prairie Stars had a slight lead after each team had three runners in the top-eight, but Southern Indiana was able to edge UIS in the fourth and fifth slots.

Wyatt McIntyre was the GLVC runner-up, the highest finish in program history for a UIS cross country runner. He ran a time of 25:21.31, 17 seconds behind the winner.
Blake Jones was sixth and
Tyler Pasley was seventh with times of 25:32.98 and 25:35.36, respectively, as each captured their second straight all-GLVC cross country honor. The fourth all-conference runner was
Tyler Hiserote who came in 15th with a time of 26:00.47.
Ryan Stark rounded out the team's top five with a time of 26:20.30, which was good for 23rd.

The women's team was in position for a top-three position, but a late injury dropped the team several spots in the team standings. The Prairie Stars had 166 points, nine behind fourth-place Rockhurst and five behind Indianapolis.

Taryn Christy finished third overall, the highest finish for a UIS women's runner, besting her fourth-place finish last season. She had a finishing time of 21:34.48.
Savannah Brannan won her first all-GLVC award after coming in 10th overall with a time of 22:46.67. Rounding out the team were
Morgan Suttles in 30th with a time of 23:42.97, Katarein Curry in 69th with a mark of 24:44.64, and
Alexa Thomsen in 76th with a time of 25:52.98.

UIS cross country will be in action again on Nov. 9 at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships. That event will also be in Evansville, Ind.
