The University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team scored a come-from-behind win on Sunday afternoon at Kiwanis Stadium with a 2-1 overtime victory over Indianapolis.
Â
After a scoreless first half, the Greyhounds scored in the 58th minute, and UIS appeared in trouble after not recording a shot on goal after the 52nd minute. That changed in the 83rd minute when
Meghan Vlcek scored on a long shot for her first collegiate goal.
Â
The two teams ended regulation and the first overtime still tied at one. In double overtime,
Emma Little had a quick throw and found
Maggie Juhlin open just outside the box. Juhlin took a shot as soon as she got it and put the game-winner into the left-hand corner of the goal.
Â
Indianapolis had a 21-17 advantage in shots, but UIS had one more shot on goal by an 8-7 margin.
Hailey Collins earned her first collegiate win in goal for UIS, making six saves in the victory. Juhlin and Vlcek both finished the game with four shots and two shots on goal, and
Sierra Cenek also had two shots on goal.
Â
The Prairie Stars are 6-6-0 on the season and 5-4-0 in GLVC play. UIS will be at Southern Indiana next Friday.
