The UIS women's volleyball team came up two points short of knocking off a nationally-ranked team on Friday night. The Prairie Stars lost in five sets in Kansas City, Mo. to No. 12 Rockhurst by scores of 13-25, 20-25, 16-25, 21-25, and 15-13.

UIS won the defensive battle against the Hawks, having three more blocks and holding Rockhurst to just a .225 hitting percentage. Rockhurst had the top offensive numbers though, including 12 more kills and three more service aces.

Brianna Bush led UIS with 15 kills,
Rachel Cobert had 13, and Ali Splitt added 12. Other team leaders included
Tiffany Wentworth with 50 assists,
Jailyn Borum with 24 digs, and Splitt with seven blocks.

UIS falls to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars stay on the road for an afternoon match tomorrow against William Jewell.
