The University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) women's soccer team fought to a 1-1 double-overtime tie with Ohio Valley University on Thursday at Kiwanis Stadium.
"I'm really proud of the effort the ladies put forth," UIS coach
Erin Egolf said. "There were no letdowns in the 110 minutes and everyone who came in contributed."
Â
UIS (0-0-1) found the scoreboard during the fifth minute of the match. Following a corner kick,
Allison Hackett was able to put a shot on target.
Maggie Juhlin was able to get the rebound and put the Prairie Stars on the board. Hackett was credited with the assist in her collegiate debut.

Amanda Meyer whose header was just left of the goal.
Â
Juhlin contributed four shots and two shots on goal, Hackett produced four shots and a shot on goal, Dagnino tallied three shots with a shot on goal,
Kayla Meyer put both of her shots on frame and

UIS outshot Ohio Valley 21-17 and held an 8-7 advantage in shots on target.
"The girls created some great chances and it's unfortunate that we couldn't put one or two of those away. The competitiveness and energy was fantastic and the soccer quality was there."
Â
Paloma Guijarro served as UIS's goalkeeper for 110 minutes and rejected six of the seven shots she faced. Ohio Valley's Kim Mora saw eight shots and collected seven saves.
Among UIS Division II leaders, Juhlin ranks eighth in career points (14) and is tied for eighth in career goals (5).
Â
The Prairie Stars clash with Lindenwood University on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Kiwanis Stadium.
"Now we are going to have to rebound quickly for our game against Lindenwood and it's going to be another battle. If we show up like we did [on Thursday], we've got a fantastic chance of coming out successful."
