Tommy Martinez (14-5) posted an 8-6 victory for UIS in No. 1 doubles against Andrew Dones/Samuel Kiladejo (3-3). Clarke/Martinez are ranked No. 33 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division II doubles rankings.
The Screaming Eagles came up with three points in singles. Lawrenz (8-6) earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Molloy (11-8) in No. 1 singles, Kiladejo (4-12) recorded a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win against Burgess Hayes (8-10) in No. 2 singles and Blanford (5-7) secured a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Toro (7-6) in No. 6 singles.
For the Prairie Stars, Clarke (15-7) turned in a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Yahor Bahdanovich (3-10) in No. 3 singles, Martinez captured a 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 win against Karelin (9-10) in No. 4 singles and Chan (10-7) claimed a 6-2, 6-2 win against Café (5-8) in No. 5 singles.
UIS battles Lewis University (6-8) next Friday at 2 p.m. at Washington Park. The Flyers are ranked No. 33 in the latest ITA NCAA Division II poll.
