UIS Volleyball Falls in Close GLVC Semifinal Match

The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team fell a few points shy of advancing to its first GLVC Tournament Championship match. The Prairie Stars fell in the semifinals to Drury by scores of 19-25, 25-18, 25-17, 21-25, and 15-10.
 
UIS trailed by as many as seven points in the fifth set at 12-5. The Prairie Stars rattled off the next five points to cut the deficit to 12-10. Drury was able to regroup though and scored the final three points of the match.

Drury finished the match with 18 more kills, and its defense held UIS to just a .121 hitting percentage. UIS had two more blocks and two more service aces in the contest.

Alli Splitt led the Prairie Stars with 15 kills, one more than Taylor Bauer. Split also hit .375 ni the match and had five blocks. Brianna Bush finished with nine kills and Rachel Cobert had eight.  Tiffany Wentworth collected 39 assists in the match. Jailyn Borum was one of four players with double-figure digs with 24. The others with 12 or more were Jenny Rush, Wentworth, and Cobert. Bush led the team with eight blocks, followed by Cobert with six, and Alyssa Hasler and Splitt with five apiece.
 
UIS is now 25-7 on the season. The Prairie Stars will learn their NCAA Tournament fate on Sunday night when they hope to hear their name announced during the NCAA Division II Selection Show.
