The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team earned a season sweep over McKendree on Saturday afternoon in Lebanon, Ill. with a 3-0 victory over the Bearcats. The team's winning streak moved to seven after the 25-21, 25-23, and 25-11 win.
 
The Prairie Stars had never beaten McKendree in GLVC action before this season, but did not drop a set in the two regular season contests in 2018. UIS was led by its offense in this match, as it hit .313 for the match, its third-highest mark of the year. The Prairie Stars were especially hot in the final two sets, as they hit .414 in that span, and had 31 kills in just 58 attempts.
 
UIS was led by its two middle blockers, Alyssa Hasler and Alli Splitt. They combined for 18 kills and had a .500 hitting percentage. Both middles had nine kills, with Hasler hitting .571 and Splitt having a .444 hitting percentage. Rachel Cobert also tied for the team-high with nine kills. Tiffany Wentworth had 33 assists, and also put down six kills in 10 attempts.
 
Defensively, Brianna Bush, Hasler, and Splitt all had two total blocks. Jailyn Borum had 16 digs, and Bush was also in double-figures with 10. The Prairie Stars held McKendree to a .176 hitting mark for the match.
 
UIS improves to 15-4 on the season and it is now 9-1 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars will be in action next weekend at the Midwest Regional Crossover in Indianapolis, Ind. The schedule for that event will be released in the coming days.
