The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team moved into sole possession of first place in the GLVC on Friday night after a 3-1 win over Truman State. The Prairie Stars are the only team in the conference with just one loss after both Drury and Rockhurst fell earlier in the evening.

UIS set a program record during its NCAA era by stretching its winning streak to 11 matches. It won by scores of 25-18, 25-23, 15-25, and 25-13. The Prairie Stars won with their defense, having 16 more digs and five more blocks. UIS held the Bulldogs to a negative hitting percentage for the final set to help it bounce back after a third-set loss.

The turning point came in the second set after UIS was already up 1-0. Truman State led 23-21, but the Prairie Stars scored four straight points to get the win.
Rachel Cobert had back-to-back kills to tie the game.
Alli Splitt then had a solo block to give UIS set point, and
Brianna Bush served an ace for the win.

Truman State won the third set but couldn't keep the momentum. The Prairie Stars used an early 4-0 run to take a 7-3 lead, and eventually led by as many as 12 in the final set.

Four Prairie Stars finished with 10 kills in
Brianna Bush,
Alyssa Hasler,
Taylor Bauer, and
Alli Splitt.
Rachel Cobert added eight kills.
Tiffany Wentworth finished with 40 assists,
Jailyn Borum had a team-high 36 digs, and Bush, Wentworth, and Splitt all had team-best four blocks.

UIS will stay on the road tomorrow afternoon for a contest against Quincy. The Prairie Stars will enter that match with a 19-4 overall record, and a 10-1 conference mark.
