UIS Finishes in Draw with Tiffin

FINDLAY, OH – The University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) women's soccer team ended Saturday's matchup with Tiffin University in a 2-2 double-overtime draw.

Madisyn Coudriet gave the Prairie Stars (1-0-1) the early lead after scoring off a corner-kick from Kaylan Mills eight minutes into the match. The Dragons (0-1-1) evened the score during the 27th minute after Svetlana Gudenkova converted a header off a pass from Leanne Tobin.

UIS struck first in the second half as Meghan Delaney drilled the one-timer during the 59th minute to give the Prairie Stars the 2-1 lead. The freshman from Sauget, IL has scored a goal in both matches she has played in on the collegiate level. Taylor Mraz provided the assist on the go-ahead goal.

Tiffin was award a penalty kick 74 minutes into the match and Alli McCabe capitalized on the opportunity.

Both teams fired two shots on goal throughout the remainder of the contest, but remained deadlocked.

Mraz tallied four shots on goal and an assist while Mills recorded an assist. Delaney and Coudriet each scored on their only shot on goal for the day while the Prairie Stars received shots on goal from Erin Bolskar, Maggie Juhlin and Amanda Meyer.

The Prairie Stars outshot the Dragons by a 21-to-12 margin.

Courtney Johnson rejected five of the seven shots she faced for UIS and Tiffin goalkeeper Samantha Ortenzi sent away seven of the nine shots that came her direction. Johnson and Ortenzi each played goalkeeper for the full 110 minutes.

The Prairie Stars battle Lindenwood University (1-0) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in St. Charles, MO.

PRAIRIE STAR NOTES: Mraz moved into seventh-place tie in UIS Division II history after bumping up her career assist total to four.
