Moore Collects First Collegiate Win at Lindenwood

ST. CHARLES, MO --- The Prairie Stars rallied behind a six-hit performance from Brittany Moore, who picked up her first collegiate win in a non-conference win at Lindenwood University. Illinois Springfield (17-15), took an early 2-0 lead and then broke the game open with a six-run fifth inning to cruise to an 8-2 victory over the Lions.

In the second inning, Alexa Brown singled to lead off the inning and advanced on a bunt single from Allison Rose. Katie Wooldridge plated the first two runs of the game with a two-run single to right field, scoring both Brown and Rose.

Moore allowed just two hits through the first three innings, but Lindenwood was able to scratch across two runs in the fourth, both unearned.

Tied at two through four innings, UIS rallied in the fifth for six runs on seven hits to break the game open. Erin Stroup collected the big hit, a bases clearing triple, scoring Ali Haesele, BriAnna Edgar, and Lakyn Wagoner. Stroup came into score on a single from Rose and then Wooldridge and Amanda Gosbeth each drove in a run each to conclude the scoring.

In the fifth inning alone, UIS had three extra base hits, two of which were doubles from Gosbeth.

Rachel Goff relieved Moore in the fifth inning and finished the game, throwing three runs and allowing just one hit. The senior held the Lions at bay, allowing just one baserunner through the final three frames.

The bottom of the order did most of the damage for the Prairie Stars as the 6-9 hitters combined to go 8-for-12 on the day with three runs and five RBI. Rose went 3-for-4 on the day with two runs and an RBI while Wooldridge and Gosbeth each had two hits on the day.

Moore (1-2) threw five innings and allowed five hits to pick up her first career win.

UIS will return home this weekend to face Bellarmine and Southern Indiana in GLVC action. First-pitch is set for 12:00 pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
