Box Score BELLEVILLE, IL --- The Prairie Stars (2-0) eased past the Lynx of Lindenwood-Belleville with an 8-1 decision in their second dual match of the fall season. After sweeping doubles play, UIS picked up five of the six singles matches for the dominating 8-1 victory over the NAIA opponent.
Sam Clarke and
Tommy Martinez took an 8-5 victory in the top doubles spot while
Pete Molloy and Logan Burgess-Hayes also won 8-5 at number two.
Oscar Toro and
Alex Chan won 8-6 in the final doubles match to take a commanding 3-0 lead.
Clarke and Molloy occupied the top two singles slots as well and each picked up a victory winning sets by a score of 6-3, 6-2. Burgess-Hayes won in the most dominating fashion for the men's team, with a 6-1, 6-1 victory while Martinez took a 6-3, 7-5 decision.
Chan cruised his way to a 6-3, 6-3 win while
Grant Fitzsimmons was bested 1-6, 3-6 for the lone loss on the day.
Clarke improved to 7-1 in singles play on the season while Molloy went to 6-1 overall. Clarke and Martinez hold a 6-2 doubles record while as a team, UIS is 14-6 in doubles and 32-15 in singles.
The Prairie Stars will return home on Friday, October 13
th to face Emporia State at 2 PM in a dual match before taking on Truman State on Saturday at 1 PM.
