Box Score QUINCY, IL --- The Prairie Stars played their first dual match of the 2017-18 season and swept the Quincy Hawks to improve to 1-0 on the season. After playing in the UIS Invitational and the ITA Regional, UIS opened up dual match play with a 9-0 defeat of Quincy.

UIS began the day in doubles play, as Sam Clarke and Tommy Martinez --- fresh off their semi-final appearance at ITA --- won 8-5 in the top slot. Logan Burgess Hayes and Pete Molloy won 8-2, while Alex Chan and Oscar Toro followed suit with another 8-2 victory.

It was much of the same in singles play as Clarke cruised through in the #1 slot with a 6-2, 6-1 victory while Molloy defeated his opponent 6-3, 6-2 in the number two slot. Burgess Hayes continued his stellar play in dual matches in his career, posting a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Martinez won 6-2, 6-3 while Chan and Toro swept their two matches as well.

Chan surrendered just two games the entire match while Toro won both of his sets by a score of 6-2.

UIS will return to the court as they take on Lindenwood-Belleville on October 6^th at 2 PM.
