Prairie Stars Travel to Southwest Baptist Invite for Second Weekend

SPRINGFIELD, IL --- Coming off the inaugural Capital Classic held in Springfield, the Prairie Stars will compete in their second tournament of the year, traveling to Bolivar, Missouri to compete in the Southwest Baptist Invitational.

At the Capital Classic, freshman middle blocker, Alli Splitt was named to the All-Tournament team following her performace over the weekend. The Cary, Illinois native led the team in kills with 44 while attacking at a .312 clip. Splitt had a team high 21 kills in a five-set loss to West Alabama as well.

UIS left the tournament besting their opponents in kills, attack percentage, assists, digs, and blocks --- where they held a 34-to-16 advantage over the first four games. Alyssa Hasler led the way with 15 total blocks while Splitt and Emma Burkle also eclipsed double digits with 12 each.

UIS Leaders:
HARDING UNIVERSITY – Friday – 9:00 am
Harding comes into the match with a 2-2 record, falling in their first two matches of the season by a score of 3-1 before coming back to win their final two games of the Hilton Garden Inn Classic by the same score. The Bison fell to Lubbock Christian and Newman before besting Texas Woman's University and Texas A&M Commerce. UIS is 0-1 all-time against Harding.

The host school, Southwest Baptist comes in with a 1-3 record, beating Barton College at the Christian Brothers Invite.  The Bearcats fell to Texas A&M Kingsville, Christian Brothers, and GLVC member Saint Joseph's College.  The game against UIS will be their first of the tournament.

The Aggies opened up with an 0-4 weekend at their own tournament, falling in straight sets each match.

Union comes into the Southwest Baptist tournament with a 1-3 record, winning against Texas A&M International in their second game of the season by a score of 3-1.
