CLEVELAND, TN --- A goal in the 85
th minute led to the defeat of the Prairie Stars against the Auburn Montgomery Warhawks. The Prairie Stars equalized the game in the 71
st minute after trailing 2-1 at the half, but ultimately fell 3-2 despite outshooting their opponents 17-5.
Zach Allevi notched his second goal of the season in as many games, scoring in the 13
th minute to tie the game. The Warhawks scored just 2:34 into the game but were quickly neutralized by the senior.
Another goal for Auburn Montgomery in the 26
th minute was the difference maker in the half, as UIS trailed 2-1, though outshooting AUM 8-5.
Kanye Sayon netted his first goal of the season on a pass from
Naba Alzhyri in the 71
st minute to tie the game but UIS couldn't take the lead and fell for the second time in the final minutes of the game.
Tommy Geile had three saves in goal for the Prairie Stars as the Warhawks put six shots on target. UIS had 17 shots on the night, while only five were on goal.
UIS will come home for their home opening on Friday, September 9
th against GLVC opponent Quincy University.
