INDIANAPOLIS, IN. --- The Prairie Stars went up against one of the top teams in the GLVC, as both the men and women's teams fell by scores of 5-0. The women's team is ranked second in the region and 27
th in the nation while the men of UIndy are 19
th in the nation and tops in the Midwest region.
MEN'S TENNIS
In doubles,
Cole Buehnerkemper and
Logan Burgess Hayese battled against the fourth ranked doubles team in the region, falling 8-2.
Sam Clarke and
Grant Fitzsimmons took on the ninth ranked doubles team, and fell 8-1.
Burgess Hayes withdrew in singles due to an injury in the third game of the first set, putting the Prairie Stars down another point. The top three singles players were going against top-ten regional players, while Buehnerkemper took on the 20
th ranked singles player in the nation, who is currently ranked second in the region. Buehnerkemper fell 6-2, 6-1, which ended the match after Burgess Hayes went down with the injury.
Clarke and
Ajay Bandreddy each had their match unfinished.
WOMEN'S TENNIS
The women's match went similar to the men as the Prairie Stars dropped all three doubles matches by scores of 8-1, 8-3, 8-0. In the second doubles match, Jasmine Morgan and
Sharon Danquah faced off against the fourth ranked singles player in the region.
Jane Carter and Danquah were the only two singles matches to finish before UIndy pulled their other players after securing the 5-0 lead. Carter fell 6-3, 6-2 and Danquah lost 6-1, 6-0.
Faith Hook and Morgan both had their matches marked as unfinished.
Both the men's and the women's teams will face off against McKendree in what is now a 4:00 pm start. This is a near must win match for the Prairie Stars in order to make a push into the GLVC tournament.
