SPRINGFIELD, IL --- The Prairie Stars ended their conference season with a heartbreaking 5-4 loss to Bellarmine University. The Prairie Stars took one of three doubles matches and then the two teams split the singles matches as UIS fell 5-4 to the Knights.

Sam Clarke and Cole Buehnerkemper took the lone doubles match for UIS, grinding out a 9-7 victory. The final two doubles matches ended with 8-6 victories for the Knights, giving them a 2-1 lead heading to singles.

In singles play, Clarke took the number one slot for UIS, dropping a three-set thriller 63-, 4-6, 6-1 to Jose Legarreta. Buehnerkemper, playing in the second slot, took an easy 6-2, 6-1 victory. Grant Fitzsimmons and Ajay Bandreddy each picked up victories as well, Fitzsimmons a 6-3, 6-4 winner and Bandreddy a 6-0, 6-1 winner. Santiago Pedraza fell in his senior day match 6-0, 6-1.

The Prairie Stars fell to 11-13 on the season and finished GLVC play at 0-6.
